For Our Community

Cellar Door is located in Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest Province, which happens to be half way between Hollywood and Cannes, France. One might say that we are at the center of the film and television industry.

The Island in which we live is central to the success of our company, it is the main character in the plot of our corporate story.

Cellar Door believes in a high standard of ethics and that our corporate activities and productions should contribute to creating a better world. There are many initiatives in which we are involved that enabled us to follow through on our mission.

First off, our programming is value based. Which really means that regardless of the genre, thematically, we are expressing universal values. Our biggest animation series is a true family viewing pleasure. I fondly call ECKHART: THE SERIES; the WALTON'S animated. Our other projects whether they are lifestyle, comedy or drama each have something positive to offer the viewer and can in some way enrich their life.

Cellar Door believes that everything we need is right at our fingertips. We have worked with local writers, storytellers, actors and artists, to create our extremely busy production slate. We have provided much opportunity that never would have been there otherwise, for talented Islanders. Islanders have written many of the ECKHART episodes and all but one of the thirty (30) characters is the voice of a local Islander. The sixty-five (65) episodes of INN CHEF started with hometown friendships with local Inn and restaurant owners, Chef Michael Smith and David Wilmer. It was a great opportunity for the towns of Souris to have an international television show shot in their community.

Corporately, Cellar Door encourages its employees to take active roles in their community and charities/societies important to them. Volunteer hours during company time are supported, as well; Cellar Door lends financial support to each employee's charity of choice.

Cellar Door believes "that a child shall lead us." We support our provincial group homes by providing computer and electronic equipment, so that these disadvantaged youth may have access to the same technology and opportunities as more fortunate youth. We have also provided a computer to a small local school, which did not have one suitable for use by the student population.

We have been a supporter of local woman and children's shelters. By organizing fundraisers, we have raised a significant amount of money for these organizations. These funds have been dedicated to increasing awareness and prevention of family violence.

Cellar Door is a strong leader in Atlantic Canadian Film and Television Industry. We've worked with our provincial Government to create an equity investment program and a tax rebate program. We have worked on policy and played a strong political role in having our politicians recognize, embrace and launch a film and television industry on Prince Edward Island.

In January of 2003, we moved into the Atlantic Technology Centre. The ATC provides us with a place for ideas to flow, driven by a spirit of interchange and growth. It is a world-class media-production environment for television, film, and new media projects, with state-of-the-art recording, production and editing suites.

The ATC is a visionary landmark in the landscape of technology and we are pleased to call it home to Cellar Door.

We want to do more. We know any and all of what we do will and can make a difference.

Thank you for letting me share "Our Community."

Sincerely,

Gretha Rose
President of Cellar Door Productions
